HMI Historical Calendar

Did you know…

…it cost $1 per day, including horse livery, to stay at the Fess Hotel in 1890?

…women were allowed to enter the Memorial Union’s Rathskeller in 1941…after 2:30pm?

…a UFO was reportedly ready to invade Madison in 1960?

The HMI calendar started out as one of several projects initiated by HMI to commemorate the 2006 sesquicentennial of Madison being named a city. It was designed to teach, entertain, and stir interest in Madison’s rich and unique history. It was created and produced by HMI board member Thomas M. Boykoff, with assistance from several board members over the years, in 2006, 2007, 2009-2012, 2014 and 2015.

HMI has a limited supply of calendars from 1976-2015. If you are interested in a copy, please contact us.
